President meets Chinese delegation

President Choummaly Sayasone yesterday received a delegation headed by the Vice President of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China , Ms Chen Zhili, at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane .

Welcoming the Chinese delegation, President Choummaly said the Lao government continued to place great importance on the long-standing relation of friendship between Laos and China .

He congratulated China on the rapid development it had achieved in many sectors, which he said was due to contributions by the National People's Congress in unifying the people for the cause of national protection and development.

President Choummaly said the number of exchange visits between Laos and China had increased, especially at the head of state level.

He also said the judiciary bodies of both countries had increased information exchanges, such as the exchange visit by the leaders of both parliaments.

The President also thanked the Chinese government for its assistance to Laos in various sectors.
