Ordinary session of the National Assembly continues

The ordinary session of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR (Sixth Legislature), which officially opened on 11 December, continues considering many important issues of the country.

            After the opening ceremony, where Mr Thongsing Thammavong, President of the National Assembly addressed, the session heard the report on the implementation of the rural development and poverty reduction program (2001-2006) and the five-year plan (2006-2010), which was presented by Mr On-neua Phommachanh, Minister to Prime Minister’s Office and representative of the Government.

            Dr. Saysomphone Phomvihane, Vice President of the National Assembly expressed comments on the Government’s report. Members discussed and expressed their debates on this report.

            The session heard the report on the previous court procedure and ways for further solving the issue, which was presented by President of the People’s Supreme Court. Representative of the Public Prosecutor Office presented the report regarding fulfilling the right and duty in the monitoring law enforcement and ways for further solving the issue.

            Some Articles of the Law on State Budget, which are needed to amend, presented by Minister of Finance. These Articles were on debates. The session also considered the Law on Commercial Banks.  

            Today, 19 December members express their debates on Value-added Tax Law, which was presented by Minister of Finance at the morning session.
